electric cars

The automotive industry is going electric faster than you think. We’re seeing more and more cars pledging to go all-electric before 2040, an initiative that caught the world’s attention when General Motors (GM) revealed they will phase out gas and diesel engines by 2035. More recently, Honda is the latest company to commit to go all-electric while aiming for 40% of its North American sales to be all-electric by 2030.

Besides GM and Honda, some of the most important carmakers that are planning to only sell electric cars include:

  • Volvo (2030): Volvo currently has only one electric vehicle: the XC40 Recharge. Nonetheless, the Swedish company is also planning to go fully electric and also move to online sales by 2030.
  • Mini (2030): The British-founded company (now owned by BMW) has also released that the company will become an all-electric brand by 2030, with its last combustion vehicle being launched in 2025.
  • Jaguar (2025): This British luxury-vehicle car manufacturer also owned by Land Rover is also planning to become an electric brand by 2025.
  • Land Rover (2036): According to Land Rover’s reports, gasoline engines will make up just 40 percent of Land Rover sales by 2030, and plan to be an all-electric brand by 2036.

As these companies promise to go all-electric to promote a more environmentally-friendly industry, more and more brands will likely join this trend. This in turn will be more beneficial for the well-being of future generations and for the planet.
